Nguyen D. Luu, Esq.


Nguyen D. Luu is an experienced immigration attorney admitted to practice in the State Bar of California, Executive Office for Immigration Review, State Department, and Department of Homeland Security. While the firm is based in San Jose, California, Nguyen enjoys representing clients and families from throughout the nation and worldwide. Nguyen’s vast immigration experience has enabled him to assist clients from all backgrounds and regions, including Canada, South America, Asia, Europe as well as the South Pacific. Nguyen earned his B.A. from George Mason University and a Juris Doctor from the nation’s first tier ranking law school, University of Florida.

Nguyen’s practice encompasses a natural crossover of immigration and family law issues, allowing him to serve his clients effectively while obtaining favorable results for his clients. As part of his demanding immigration practice, Nguyen regularly accompanies his clients to interviews at USCIS field offices throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Immigration Court in San Francisco and San Jose. Nguyen is able to better represent his clients due to his extensive knowledge regarding the local practice and policy of the Immigration Court. Nguyen is an active member of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and attends local chapter meetings and USCIS liaison meetings to ensure he is apprised of the latest changes in US Immigration laws, procedures and regulations to effectively represent his clients.

Nguyen diligently represents his immigration clients and succeeds in obtaining favorable results in an array of complex proceedings, such as obtaining permanent residency and naturalization for clients, approvals of I-601 waivers, Appeals, Motion to Reopens, and Cancellation of Removal matters. As part of Nguyen’s core philosophies, he strives to advise clients not only on short-term solutions but also works closely with clients to develop a long-term strategy to maximize a favorable outcome.  Nguyen has experience in advising clients on various employment based visa options, which includes foreign investors, skilled workers, and other professionals (EB-5, EB-2, E-2, L-1, H1-B, etc.)

Nguyen served as President of the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Northern California (VABANC) during 2016 and currently serves on the advisory board of VABANC. Nguyen has a deep commitment to pro bono services and frequently volunteers his time providing pro bono services at VABANC’s monthly legal clinic, AILA’s legal clinic at Jewish Family Services in Los Gatos. Nguyen participates as an immigration law panelist at various Know Your Rights Legal Clinics and Citizenship workshop hosted by local community organizations that serve underprivileged communities. Nguyen has also been active with the Asian American Bar Association of Silicon Valley and served on the Small Firm and Solo Practitioner Committee. Nguyen is also a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association and was appointed to serve on the Professionalism Committee. During 2014, Nguyen was selected to participate in the Barrister Leadership Program by the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

During June 2010, Nguyen volunteered to help provide bilingual, pro-bono legal education clinics in the Gulf States in response to the urgent legal needs of the Vietnamese American community affected by the BP Oil Disaster. The legal clinics provided access and education concerning BP claims policy affecting thousands of Vietnamese fishermen. For his outstanding and invaluable services to the community during the clinics, Nguyen received special Congressional recognition.

 Nguyen is bilingual, fluent in Vietnamese.
